Abrasive materials

You will notice that abrasive construction materials are course, rough, and often sharp. They frequently contain additional materials that wear away other materials when they are rubbed or brushed against them.

When you are cutting this type of construction material, you require discs that are specially designed to give good performance when being used. It is also important that the diamond grit is not worn away too quickly. These discs need to have the design features that enable the disc to remain cool during use. Also, the debris should be encouraged to flow away from the cutting edge quickly. Last, but by no means least, the diamond grit needs to be of high quality and of a reasonable width.

Examples of abrasive materials are lime, sandstone, pumice, aggregated concrete.

To be absolutely certain that you are about to cut an abrasive material, check it. If the material feels rough and uneven when you rub your hand over it, then it will probably require a disc that is designed to provide good performance on this kind of construction material.
